“Diary of a girl on a cleanse” is my column exposing life on my 5 day cleanse. Each Friday a new day on the cleanse will be revealed! These are my thoughts mid-morning on day one.
It was my 41st birthday during the week so my weekend was FULL of indulgence. Today is a fantastic day to start a cleanse!
My “vital signs” are dull today – I feel bloated, my eyes are a bit puffy with dark rings and I certainly did not wake up feeling refreshed. And my jeans are tighter (a fair bit actually).
I set an intention this morning that the household would be calm (!) in preparation for getting the kids off to school and it really was! It did help that I got up a little earlier and because of the cleanse program, I knew exactly what I was making everyone for breakfast and lunch (and dinner, for that matter) so there was no time wasted pondering.
My cleanse breakfast was surprisingly filling, I am certainly not hungry. In fact, I almost feel a weight has been lifted already, by starting my day in such a light and positive way… I hope it holds out!
After walking the kids to school I argued in my mind about going for the brisk walk that I promised myself. Thankfully good defeated evil and I went for a 30 minute brisk walk. I noticed the spring flowers. I replayed a few of the morning conversations. I thought about my day. But interspersed through all that conversation was my overwhelming feeling of wanting to get back home and start work.
Am I a work-a-holic?
I have given myself permission to fully embrace this cleanse process and getting away from my desk AND exercising are important… why do I torture myself over it so much? Journalling will help…
My husband and I laughed this morning as he pondered the journal question, “What fun and adventure do I have planned for today?” I suggested that he might play Wii with our son, which they BOTH love! He laughed and thought that was a good idea. But then he really got in to the process and came up with the fun plan of making a Dockers banner for their building. I could see his joy (he was like a little kid in a lolly shop) bubbling up from his idea of creating a banner for his beloved football team! There’s a lesson right there: It’s really great to even just I contemplate what we should do for fun.
The vibe in the household this morning was great.
I’m excited by the possibilities of 5 days on the Vitality Cleanse. I would like to let go of a bit of weight that I am holding on to and I’d like to tone up my skin a bit more. I’d also like to improve my eating patterns, especially around snacking. So we’ll see how it goes… Let’s just get through the day first.
It’s all good.
